Hi and welcome to the AnHeimisheYid forum,

I hope that any Yid, Heimish or not, will be able to enjoy this forum, however in order to get things running smoothly we must have some rules according to which this forum shall be run. So please take a few minutes of your time to read these rules before starting off.

First and foremost we must know what the purpose of this forum is.

The idea of this forum is to serve as a meeting-place for the international Jewish community and to serve as a platform through which Jews all over the globe can come to know each other, share thoughts, ideas, insights and inspiration and just spent some quality time together. We want to laugh together, share Simches and G'd-forbid other events and exchange knowledge and experiences.

Some dos and don’ts.

Do be Jewish.
This site is set up to be in line with the laws governing Judaism according to the way these laws are interpreted by authentic orthodox Torah Judaism.

Don’t brake Halocho.
We ask you to respect every Halocho in particular (but not exclusively) the Halochos of Loshon Hore and Shemiras HaLoshon according to the ruling of the Chofetz Chaim and the Halochos of Tzniyus (particularly in pictures) according to the directives in Rav Falk's "Oiz VeHodor LeVusho".
Remember that even without mentioning names and even if the story is known it might still be Loshon Hore.

Do speak nicely.
Members are also requested to reframe from using language which doesn't befit a Torah-Jew. This includes any cursing, intimate language, "street language", etc.

Don’t be rude.
The Ba'al HaBayis (administrator) and Mashgichim (moderators) will under no circumstances accept any personal insult or attack to any person to be posted on the forum. Such comments will be edited or deleted as soon as noticed and action will be taken to avoid reoccurrence. This can include (public) warnings and/or a temporary or permanent ban.

Do practice respect.
Please ensure that this forum will be a base for Kidush HaShem by respecting every person, whether Jewish or not, and his believes.

Don’t provoke.
We can accept legitimate questions on all topics and have even made a special topic for asking questions on Judaism, but we expect those questions to be asked in a way which shows respect and indicate that the questioner's purpose is learning the answer and not provoking or attacking. One can always contact a Mashgiach (moderator) or the Ba'al HaBayis (administrator) who will be glad to help you phrase your question in the right way.

Do watch what you say.
Also remember that this is an open community forum and as such anybody has access to any information published here.

Don’t cause disorder.
Please try to post your questions and comments in the corresponding sections on the forum. Please do not post your questions or comments in several places. If your idea fits in to more than one category, just pick the one in which is suits the best. Double posting only leads to frustration of the members and will not get you an answer any sooner, on the contrary. The Ba'al HaBayis will add topics over time as the need arises.

Do announce what you are talking about.
Each topic has a title. The purpose of these titles is to allow other people to get a general idea about what is being discussed in that particular topic. So please use meaningful titles and avoid titles as "please help", "urgent", "question" etc.

Don’t cause eye-discomfort.
This forum gives a wide range of emoticons and formatting options. The idea of these is to allow members to personalize their messages according to their own personality. Please do not abuse these options as excessive use of these will make the post unpleasant to read. Remember that posting in capitals only is akin to shouting.

Do stick to English.
The language on the forum shall be mainly English. As it is a Jewish forum quotes in Hebrew are acceptable, but please remember that the idea is that others should understand what you are posting. For that reason one should also try to avoid spelling mistakes, SMS-style (c u, gr8, …) etc.

Don’t breach confidentiality.
Not everything has to be said in public. There is an option on this forum to send members a PM (private message) which only (s)he can read. If you have some complaint or private issue please make use of this option. Likewise if you think you have been able to uncover someone’s identity, do tell them about it so that they will be careful about what they say, but don’t make it public.

Don’t be a nudge.
Remember however that the people on this board are human. They do not want to be bugged and nagged or nudged by others. So don’t misuse the PM option. The Ba’al HaBayis and Mashgichim have the ability to temporarily or permanently disable PMing on a per member basis if complains arise.

Do respect Mashgichim and Rabbonim.
I would like to request that our Mashgichim and Rabbonim be respected. They do not receive a wage and volunteer their time to make this board as pleasant as possible. They have been given the authority to moderate and edit any posts and their requests and warnings are to be taken seriously.

Wishing you all an enjoyable posting and reading experience,

AnHeimishYid.
